In honor of being alive 262,800 hours. 30 years. 30 Holly Facts
1. Turning 30 hasn't been looming over me like some day of doom. I haven't been crying or freaking out. I feel as though I have been a 30 year old soccer mom since long before I ever had children of my own. I have always felt the need and want to care for those around me. My first group of babies was my high school basketball team. I was known as the team mom.... even though I was a player like the rest of them. I always wanted to protect and keep them safe. When they hurt I hurt. You can ask my own mom... from the time I was a kiddo I didn't long to be a marine biologist or a rock star. I wanted to be a mom!
2. I used to go go go all the time. Every weekend I wanted to go out and do something. Nowadays, my greatest want is to stay at home, relax, and catch up on house stuff.
3. Skip all the fancy desserts. My favorite is a white cake with butter cream icing from Sam's.
4. Downton Abby is Fab.
5. I had to ask someone what "On Fleek" was. I probably should have asked how to spell it, too! I am officially out of the cool stage. (I am not sure I was ever in it to begin with it, but now I can admit it)
6. Motherhood is my calling. I know I know... ye feminist arise against me, but hey... I think it is. Not just to be a mother to my own children, but a safe and happy spot for the kids I am around even if it's just for a short while.
7. A night without cooking is a dream come true.
8. I think a week without laundry would be a dream come true as well, but it's never happened so I am not sure!
9. I no longer like scary movies.... this has been for a while, but even more now. I hate them.
10. I still have to sing if I go outside by myself at night. I am not terrified, but old habits die hard. =)
11. Rainy, dreary days are my favorite!
12. I am extremely blessed to have my grandparents all still living at age 30! They are amazing people!
13. I have a a huge love for pink flamingos. My great grandmother once bought my grandmother a whole yard full of plastic pink lawn flamingos and we all thought they were terribly hideous... but now I have grown extremely fond of them! One because they are cute.... but mostly because they remind me of my grandmothers!
14. My mom, dad, brother, and sister in law are 4 of my best friends now.
15. My children and my husband are my world. I strive to live everyday to make their lives better.
16. I have made it to 30 without ever drinking a beer. I plan to live the rest of my life not having a beer. I am seriously more of a Diet Dr. Pepper with vanilla girl! I have never seen the appeal of alcohol.
17. I still get an ache when I see a high school basketball game or track meet. 12 years later I still would love to be out there playing! (I am sure I would break something now though)
18. My best friend Nicole has been a life long best friend.... she was born 2 weeks after me and we have been together ever since!
19. I used to be a romance novel kinda girl, but I love reading biographies and memoirs now.
20. The older I get the more I realize just how very lucky I am to have my sweet husband. He is quite simply the best. Funny, loving, caring, protector, care taker, and provider. He works his TAIL off for the success and well being of our family. A true Godly husband who is the head of our home.
21. I am not a big fan of really rich chocolatey stuff.... a candy bar is fine, but hot fudge, chocolate cake, dark chocolate stuff is not my thing... funny fact: My dad and Ari are the same way. Heredity is a funny thing.
22. I would love to write a book one day!
23. I have lived in Hereford for almost 12 years now.... and I only lived in Kingston Springs for 18. That fact is crazy to me!
24. I would love to own a cupcake shop.
25. New York City is my favorite place on Earth.
26. I can NEVER correctly guess who will win awards on award shows anymore.
27. I love the quiet now. I used to always have the TV or radio on or be talking to someone, but I love love love quiet now. I crave moments of silence
28. I see things in myself that I need to change, but I am perfectly happy being me. Seems with every passing year it's easier to be happy in my own world and not compare to others. I still strive to be a more Godly woman... I have lots I need to change and do better, but think I am just more comfortable in my own skin now than when I turned 20. Boy, wouldn't it be cool to give our teenage or 20 year old selves a pep talk. I most definitely would tell my 16 year old self to shut up with the " I am fat talk". I look back at pictures and Whoa.... if only I really saw myself as the strong athletic self back then. I would love to have that pre-baby athletic body back, but I wouldn't ever trade my children for the non stretch marked body of my youth! They are worth every gray hair!
29. I love movies. Watching movies with my kids and husband is my favorite way to relax.
30. I am the daughter of the one true King. I am blessed my God more than I deserve. I was saved by Jesus and am ever thankful the unwavering love of my Heavenly Father.
Here is to the Fabulousness of being 30!!!
